Well I haven't had much to say about the Devils in recent weeks - at least nothing positive. It's clear they are having trouble adapting to the new rules, but then I suspect that most of the new rules were aimed at their style of play. Sorry those of you who like lots of scoring, but I'm a hockey traditionalist. I think there is nothing more exciting than a nothing-nothing tie - if the score is tied because both teams are playing well. High (boorrrring!) scoring is one of the reasons I don't watch basketball. Why bother watching the first 50 or so minutes when everything important happens in the last 5 or 10 minutes?

Anyway the reason for this post is to comment on Larry Robinson's departure. I really like Larry and I feel bad for him. I think he's stuck with the wrong team at the wrong time. Lou built this team for the old system and I think he's the one who has to do something. I think he needs to get a goal scorer and soon. I don't know what's going to happen with Elias, but when he comes back - if he comes back this year - it's going to take him a long time to get up to speed.

I sure wish we had Neidermeyer back - our defense corps is old and slow. We need some speedy guys in there with the stay-at-homes. I also wish Stevens had stayed. He would have had a hard time with the new system, but at least the guys would have had his leadership. We don't even have a captain, let alone a leader.

Bordeur has for the most part been less than spectacular. I've always said that the Devils solid defense was the reason for his success and that he wouldn't do as well on team that emphasized scoring instead of defense.

Right now this team has no rudder and Lou better get us one fast or we are going the way of the Titanic ... glub, glub, glub!
