This image is kind of a happenstance. I got a new toy from Ulead called "art texture." It comes with their photo editing software, but they offered it to registered owners of their other software as well. It is mega-cool! Check it out!
With it, I created a gold and black image that vaguely resembled the blades of a fan. In the center I placed a gold/orange lens flare using KPT 6, then I used KPT 3 Gradient Explorer to highlight a circle around the lens flare. After that I duplicated the image, then applied a Corel PhotoPaint 8 filter called Zig Zag which creates a ripple effect. To finish it off, I layered one image over the other using "invert" as the merge mode - and I C U was born!
