Around 1996, I discovered a TV show called Highlander-the Series, based on the movie by the same name. This fantasy world of Immortals created by Gregory Widen, William Panzer and Peter Davis captivated me like no other TV show ever did before.
Why? I have no idea.
It could be the fantasy - Immortals can not die - they live forever (unless someone beheads them - yikes!). It could be the flashbacks that shed an interesting light on various historical periods. It could be the dark, brooding and very handsome hero, Duncan MacLeod - played by the equally handsome Adrian Paul (and you have no idea how handsome until you've met him in person!).
It could be Duncan's shining nobility and the romantic notion that chivalry still exists. And it could be the intriguing idea of that these very special beings called Immortals try to live their lives among mortal men - who can not know of their existence.
I suspect the answer is - all of the above. When I try to tell people what Highlander is about, I can find no words in my fairly well-stocked vocabulary that will do it justice. Mere words can not contain the enormous scope of this amazing universe. You simply have to see it for yourself.
Unfortunately, the last new episode was shown in May of 1998, but the SciFi network shows reruns of all 6 seasons - check your local networks for listings.
There are 4 sections here on my HIGHLANDER site - one for fan fiction that I've written, one containing some .wav files I made and another that holds a still under-construction Episode Guide. And last but not least, my NEW Connor Page!
